ABOUT US
What is MUN?
Model United Nations (MUN) conferences are small-scale simulations of the United Nations. MUN aims to enhance understanding of the United Nations, educate participants on global issues, and promote peace and the work of the UN through collaboration and diplomacy. In this simulation, students take on the role of delegates representing different countries and work to solve real-world problems from the perspective of the policies and viewpoints of their assigned nations.
History of SSBLMUN
We are the Samsun Social Sciences High School MUN Club. Our club was officially established and began its activities in January 2019. On February 15-16-17, 2019, we held our first MUN conference with four different committees. Participation in this conference was open only to our school’s students. After experiencing the MUN conference, we started working with great dedication and motivation to organize our first event open to high school students across Samsun.
From April 5-6-7, 2019, we held a dynamic three-day conference featuring various engaging committees and discussion environments. As a result of our hard work, the conference attracted significant interest from high school students in Samsun, sparked curiosity about MUN, and motivated students to hold their own conferences. This established a tradition of MUN events within our province.
We quickly continued preparations for our second intra-provincial conference, scheduled for April 17-18-19, 2020. However, due to the national quarantine process, we were unable to hold the conference despite completing all preparations.
Currently, as students of Samsun Social Sciences High School, we are eager to continue this valuable tradition, which our alumni have passed on to us, and to organize the event in 2024. Each year, we students take part in the academic and organizational preparations for the conference. Through this process, we learn about the working environment, experience collaboration, gain valuable knowledge, and take pride in the event we create. We are confident that our planned event this year will attract great interest in Samsun and that the committees we have prepared will offer many benefits to participating students.

MISSION
At SSBLMUN, we firmly believe that youth is the most powerful force to illuminate the challenges of tomorrow. Our aim is to foster an environment where young individuals can freely express and advocate for opinions that contribute to a better future. We are committed to creating opportunities that offer valuable experiences across a range of global issues. Participants in this conference will develop empathy, negotiation skills, and a deeper understanding of diverse perspectives, while being educated on key matters on the world stage.
VISION
As SSBLMUN Team our vision is to empower the next generation of global citizens by providing them with the platform to deal closely with the world’s most tense issues currently. We envision a future where youth are not only well-informed but also equipped with the skills to foster dialogue, promote empathy, and drive meaningful change. Meanwhile our conference, we aim to inspire young minds to take on leadership roles in shaping a more just, inclusive, and sustainable world.
